Richard Jowett

With a strong background in professional indemnity and liability work Richard has branched into marine, construction, energy and ISR.  Richard is currently involved in advising clients in connection with insurance and/or reinsurance issues on a number of high profile insurance events in Australia.  He is highly experienced in both direct insurance and reinsurance/retrocessions and also advises on brokers’ E&O, Directors & Officers’ liability, insurance architecture (including captives) and contract certainty. Prior to 2007, Richard headed the insurance/reinsurance team in HFW’s Middle East office and is a member of ANZIIF, AILA and the CIAB.

David North

David graduated in Arts / Law at University of New South Wales and then travelled for a few months before working with Thomas Cooper & Stibbard lawyers in London. Upon his return to Sydney he worked with Norton Smith lawyers for one year and 9 years with Swiss Re as a treaty underwriter. He then spent 3 years as a reinsurance broker with Willis Re before joining Employers Reinsurance as a treaty underwriter in 2000. In 2002 he moved to the claims side and is now back at Swiss Re following their acquisition of Employers Re in 2006.
